I'm terribly sick

grabbed from twilight-runs.

I'm down with a fever, along with the muscle and joint aches that come with it. They've stuck around for 2 whole days, and i took many naps, in the hope that they will somehow disappear when i wake up.

I'm sorry if i do not blog as often, i have to recover asap so that revision for the BIG A's can resume.

Some posts i've to catch up on :
1. The Nike+ Human Race
2. Visit to JE Swimming Complex

If i have time, those above will be up(if i'm feeling well, too).

Deepest apologies!

Failure

Failure hits hard. Especially when you see people around you doing much better than you.

My results are a fucking joke. If you need a good laugh, come ask me for them.

I'm grateful for the encouragement and all, but i believe both you and i know the kind of hot soup that i'm in right now. Nonetheless, thanks people.

Am i ever good at anything? All the effort i've put into practising papers and studying notes, still boils down to nothing. NOTHING. Everything is equally horrible. Even my favourite subject. Can i please have at least a set of good results to be happy for? Sigh.

I'm depressed. Really depressed. Never felt this down before, ever.

The Great Depression

I tried my best, i studied. I didn't want history to repeat itself. I hoped to prove to certain people that i can at the very least, achieve something.

Yet, i somehow manage to hit rock-bottom everytime. I don't understand. All that effort should at least reap better results than these. Sigh. Depression is setting in.

Am i stupid or what?

I live opposite a Knife-Thrower

This was supposed to be up yesterday, blame it on procrastination.

Started the Tuesday with some instant noodles, curry-flavoured. I was too lazy to go over to my grandmother's for a meal, so yeah.

Then came my daily ritual of downing some honey! It's actually something i like to take, so i don't mind although my mum always reminds me.

The weather's been really hot and it becomes uncomfortable studying at home, so i arranged with Gee to go down to the the condo's under-utilised study room and STUDY. Everything went well until these group of sec sch students came in. Mind you, there were 8 of them(if i counted correctly).

Weird place for a class outing, i know. They brought snacks and settled down to "study" in that room which had less than 6 chairs(with me and gee already occupying 2). Maybe they ingeniously sat on each other's lap. Did i mention there were girls too?

Okay so we got used to studying amidst the chatter and random noises from the group. After about 2 hours or so, we took a break and went to jalan jalan outside.

And we saw this.

We were "OMGWTF how the shit did that get there?!", since no one else was around.

Then, we looked around for other possibilities to this strange sight.

(Most) Possible Trajectories of the Knife.

Bingo. A fair amount of discussion concluded that it had most probably been thrown from the opposite condo!

(Possible)Reasons being:

- A wife walked up on her husband making love to their maid, so she grabbed a knife and threw it at him, only to miss. The knife flew out the window at the opposite condo and landed itself in the tree at my condo. Refer to above.

- An airplane flying overhead didn't have its cargo hold secured safely and leaked its contents. One of them, a knife, fell through the sky and by sheer amount of luck, got itself stuck on this tree at my condo.

- An idiot using the knife to try to chop down the tree, instead of a regular chainsaw. The knife got stuck. The idiot gave up and left.

- A murderer killed someone and stuck the knife on the tree, bending down to tie his undone shoelaces. He left without taking the knife with him, forgetting the fact that he placed it there.

- The tree grows knives.

The most probable one being the first, after much debate.

I live opposite a Knife-Thrower!

Ninja...Cat?!

We've all seen ninjas, in manga like Naruto, in games like Ninja Gaiden. But have you seen a ninja cat?!

Pure amazement.

I'll blog more either tonight, or tomorrow evening. Got 2 papers to rush for, GOODBYE!

Hacked?

I almost caused my layout page on blogger to crash just by fiddling about with the html. A moment ago my Cbox was fused with my Plurk box -.-

But, everything's sorted out nice and tidy already, so no worries!

Was looking through my feeds when i saw this:

" Large Hadron Collider kena hack "

It's in Greek, so don't bother.

Indeed it got hacked. And boy, did it cause quite a stir at CERN. The hackers left an identity - "Group 2600 of the Greek Security Team".

Apparently, they didn't cause any disruption or damage to the system at all. So what's the point of hacking? Well, according to them, to show that it was hackable.

Woah. Imagine those hackers in full-control of the entire supercollider. Increasing the chances that a singularity is created or that the earth turns to strange matter, is not a comforting thought.

The hackers had made their point. They revealed the vulnerabilities of the system by hacking into it. My guess is that they wanted to be a deterrent to the scientists that were bent on carrying out the experiment. The full scoop, here.

Green Tea

Ze Harmlezz-looking Shite

For some reason, my urge to blog surfaced in the midst of studying linear regression. I might as well blog while waiting for the Little Terror to answer my queries on the topic.

OKAY.

So last night, i paid a visit to the gym. One which was long overdue. I asked my mum along and surprisingly, she agreed! I'm happy when there's company.

I went down around 9.30pm, awfully late and just half an hour before it shuts for the night. We had the room to ourselves.

They installed 2 NEW treadmills, during my absence at the place(the previous ones were horrible). The next 30 mins were spent doing static workouts, while my mum ran 2.5km on the mill.

I got kind of rusty with some of the machines. It took me more effort than before, and i was severely tired out after a few exercises. A sign that i should visit it more often.

After getting chased out by the guard at 10, i popped down half a can of Green Tea, only to realise my mistake minutes later. Straight after emptying the can's contents, i started to feel a bugging itch down my throat.

My mum did the same to what's left and she TOO, felt the itch.

Then, i coughed and coughed. Every breath there was that itch. It only diminished after i drank hot water later at home. I wonder what they put in there, it's the first time i actually coughed after sipping Green Tea.

So piece of advice here, try not to down Green Tea after a workout, unless you're bored and want to have a hell of a time coughing. Instead, why not try our good ol' caffeinated cousin : Coffee.

Thought

Yoda: the Cutest-Green-Thing-Ever

Prelims are half-over! Yet the A levels draw closer(hey that rhymes!).

I'm left with:

Math Paper 2
Chem Paper 2
Physics Paper 1
Chem Paper 1
Econs

I just had math tuition and suddenly harboured the thought of entering poly for graphic media design/animation 2 years ago. What would have become of me? Definitely an easier time in school, thats for sure.

Sigh.I realise i haven't been giving my future much planning after all. Many decisions that could have been made in the past would have saved me from being in the current spot that i am in, right now. My career could actually be ONE WHICH I LIKED. It's abit too late for that, lets just go with the flow and see what i can do along the way(:

Someone got a time machine? ^^

First Week of Prelims

Okay, so the first week of prelims is coming to a close. Not on a high note though. The papers were generally demoralizing. Sigh. I'd better buck up for A levels, if not i'll be in hot soup.

Today was a short day, Paper 3 Chem lasted till 10am and that was all! Save for the majority of my friends who had Econs in the afternoon, i returned home quite early. Nice.

But i guess they'll be laughing at ME next week when I have to stay back for MY econs, and they get their turn to go home early. Zzz.

Alright, back to the LHC. If you haven't heard, refer to my previous post below.

Page 22 : Straits Times. Click to Enlarge.

The scientists successfully ran a proton beam through the full length of the accelerator, BOTH counter-clockwise and clockwise. That means they're ready for the collisions. Note, they haven't collided anything yet(so we're still safe from micro-singularities and strangelets).

The next experiment is due on October 21st, where they will run an actual high-energy collision, near the speed of light.

That will decide, whether we end up:

Like this...

where the human race ends with a BANG...

Or this...

where we all go crazy because the LHC has discovered stuff which will require scientists to rewrite ALL the physics books on Earth, and we'll have to relearn EVERYTHING.

Okay i've to get back to studying(YES, PHYSICS) for tomorrow's paper. Goodbye.

The End of the World?

With the Large Hadron Collider already built at CERN(Organisation Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire), today is the day that they flip that switch. Yes, September the 10th.

One question that has been circulating around cyberspace: Will the World End Today?

Smashing atoms at 99.9 percent the speed of light through that 10 billion dollar, 27km-long tube could very well rip the fabric of space-time. And, cause the Universe to repeat another Big Bang, or even possibly, the reverse of it.

Some information on the issue here :

Will the World End on Sept. 10, 2008 and not 2012?

Why the World Won't End on September 10

The end of the world is nigh...or is it that nay?

I'll go read up more and update right here. Even Google wants to join in the fun.

Meanwhile...

Nice knowing you guys. Really. In case anything happens.

They're turning it on........anytime now.....anytime now....

Un-speed

Uncyclopedia takes AGES to come up. I don't know if its my browser or bandwidth thats causing the sluggish load, but nowadays it's been like that, damn sian.

The website's a parody of Wikipedia, think of it as a source of untrue articles, all comedic interpretations of serious stuff. It serves the exact opposite purpose of Wiki, and i 'm becoming a regular visitor to the site. Some articles are just so damn funny! I can't help but continue, search after search.

Singapore has its own page there, but don't make references unless you want to fail your History test or whatever. Do check it out here though, IF it manages to load for you(tell me if it does).

23,273 articles and counting!(i hope to contribute one day)

Another September Baby

Happy Birthday Sihui!

I'm just halfway through my list... ^^

Mathematics

Somewhere on Un-cyberspace:

"Math is the hideously complex theory that if two bits are one way, the other bits will be another way. Except for when there are three bits, or five bits, in which case they will be a completely different way. Erroneously, some dumb people believe that mathematics is the study of patterns and that it's the backbone for many sciences. Regardless, math is stupid."

"Proof that 2+2=5

1. 2+2=4
2. 4=a number
3. 5=a number
4. 4=5

THUS... 2+2=4, which means 2+2=5. "

Come on math tutors, PROVE THIS WRONG!

What a night

Nights suck, especially when spent doing questions from a math paper that is hellishly difficult. I'm DEMORALIZED MAN.

The short break spent watching Clear and Present Danger starring Harrison Ford was nice though. Sometimes old shows are good shows.

The stress is building, and its only just the beginning.

Britney Spears Is a Guy?!

Check her....uh i mean him.... out on America's Got Talent. Thanks to cousin Gee, for making this shocking revelation.

I know what you're thinking. Sex-change? Yes? No? I don't know for sure, but his chin vaguely resembles that of MJ's, post-surgery. Judging by the striking resemblance to our once-teen-pop-sensation, he must have done ALOT of work.

Oops she(he) did it again...

Chem Kills(You! too, but not more than Math)

Man Almost Loses P**** Humping Steel Bench

OOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! OUCH! x 1238212321732979177....

The story here : from JayWalk.

On a less painful note,

Spent the past 2 hours on my arduous journey through the chem TYS. And i've finally finished!

The Nike Plus Human Race proved an enjoyable experience, although it took quite a toll on me. (Shall dedicate a post to it soon, lotsa pics!)

I've made up my mind. I shall both swim and run at least ONCE a week, to get ready for NS ^^.

Omg i realised i haven't bathed the entire day(eeeeyer), its time to hit the bath!

Math Kills(You!)

Why stats so facking hard!?
