Hacked?

I almost caused my layout page on blogger to crash just by fiddling about with the html. A moment ago my Cbox was fused with my Plurk box -.-

But, everything's sorted out nice and tidy already, so no worries!

Was looking through my feeds when i saw this:

" Large Hadron Collider kena hack "

It's in Greek, so don't bother.

Indeed it got hacked. And boy, did it cause quite a stir at CERN. The hackers left an identity - "Group 2600 of the Greek Security Team".

Apparently, they didn't cause any disruption or damage to the system at all. So what's the point of hacking? Well, according to them, to show that it was hackable.

Woah. Imagine those hackers in full-control of the entire supercollider. Increasing the chances that a singularity is created or that the earth turns to strange matter, is not a comforting thought.

The hackers had made their point. They revealed the vulnerabilities of the system by hacking into it. My guess is that they wanted to be a deterrent to the scientists that were bent on carrying out the experiment. The full scoop, here.
