Thought

Yoda: the Cutest-Green-Thing-Ever

Prelims are half-over! Yet the A levels draw closer(hey that rhymes!).

I'm left with:

Math Paper 2
Chem Paper 2
Physics Paper 1
Chem Paper 1
Econs

I just had math tuition and suddenly harboured the thought of entering poly for graphic media design/animation 2 years ago. What would have become of me? Definitely an easier time in school, thats for sure.

Sigh.I realise i haven't been giving my future much planning after all. Many decisions that could have been made in the past would have saved me from being in the current spot that i am in, right now. My career could actually be ONE WHICH I LIKED. It's abit too late for that, lets just go with the flow and see what i can do along the way(:

Someone got a time machine? ^^

First Week of Prelims

Okay, so the first week of prelims is coming to a close. Not on a high note though. The papers were generally demoralizing. Sigh. I'd better buck up for A levels, if not i'll be in hot soup.

Today was a short day, Paper 3 Chem lasted till 10am and that was all! Save for the majority of my friends who had Econs in the afternoon, i returned home quite early. Nice.

But i guess they'll be laughing at ME next week when I have to stay back for MY econs, and they get their turn to go home early. Zzz.

Alright, back to the LHC. If you haven't heard, refer to my previous post below.

Page 22 : Straits Times. Click to Enlarge.

The scientists successfully ran a proton beam through the full length of the accelerator, BOTH counter-clockwise and clockwise. That means they're ready for the collisions. Note, they haven't collided anything yet(so we're still safe from micro-singularities and strangelets).

The next experiment is due on October 21st, where they will run an actual high-energy collision, near the speed of light.

That will decide, whether we end up:

Like this...

where the human race ends with a BANG...

Or this...

where we all go crazy because the LHC has discovered stuff which will require scientists to rewrite ALL the physics books on Earth, and we'll have to relearn EVERYTHING.

Okay i've to get back to studying(YES, PHYSICS) for tomorrow's paper. Goodbye.

The End of the World?

With the Large Hadron Collider already built at CERN(Organisation Européenne pour la Recherche Nucléaire), today is the day that they flip that switch. Yes, September the 10th.

One question that has been circulating around cyberspace: Will the World End Today?

Smashing atoms at 99.9 percent the speed of light through that 10 billion dollar, 27km-long tube could very well rip the fabric of space-time. And, cause the Universe to repeat another Big Bang, or even possibly, the reverse of it.

Some information on the issue here :

Will the World End on Sept. 10, 2008 and not 2012?

Why the World Won't End on September 10

The end of the world is nigh...or is it that nay?

I'll go read up more and update right here. Even Google wants to join in the fun.

Meanwhile...

Nice knowing you guys. Really. In case anything happens.

They're turning it on........anytime now.....anytime now....

Un-speed

Uncyclopedia takes AGES to come up. I don't know if its my browser or bandwidth thats causing the sluggish load, but nowadays it's been like that, damn sian.

The website's a parody of Wikipedia, think of it as a source of untrue articles, all comedic interpretations of serious stuff. It serves the exact opposite purpose of Wiki, and i 'm becoming a regular visitor to the site. Some articles are just so damn funny! I can't help but continue, search after search.

Singapore has its own page there, but don't make references unless you want to fail your History test or whatever. Do check it out here though, IF it manages to load for you(tell me if it does).

23,273 articles and counting!(i hope to contribute one day)

Another September Baby

Happy Birthday Sihui!

I'm just halfway through my list... ^^

Mathematics

Somewhere on Un-cyberspace:

"Math is the hideously complex theory that if two bits are one way, the other bits will be another way. Except for when there are three bits, or five bits, in which case they will be a completely different way. Erroneously, some dumb people believe that mathematics is the study of patterns and that it's the backbone for many sciences. Regardless, math is stupid."

"Proof that 2+2=5

1. 2+2=4
2. 4=a number
3. 5=a number
4. 4=5

THUS... 2+2=4, which means 2+2=5. "

Come on math tutors, PROVE THIS WRONG!

What a night

Nights suck, especially when spent doing questions from a math paper that is hellishly difficult. I'm DEMORALIZED MAN.

The short break spent watching Clear and Present Danger starring Harrison Ford was nice though. Sometimes old shows are good shows.

The stress is building, and its only just the beginning.
