Too Darn Hot

Omg just have a look at the new concept car Chevrolet came up with. Too sexy already. And it's just for Transformers 2! Specially requested by Michael Bay.

The car, a new Stingray Corvette Concept, is a remake, reminiscent of the actual 1969 model. Vaguely resembles the Camaro though. Well, both are from Chevy anyway. It plays the vehicle form of Sideswipe in the upcoming Transformers 2 : Revenge of the Fallen. And opposite the yellow Camaro, Bumblebee, as well! Eye candy whoo!

Space Grenade

Yahoo News :
Big Satellites collide 500 miles over Siberia.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Two big communications satellites collided in the first-ever crash of its kind in orbit, shooting out a pair of massive debris clouds and posing a slight risk to the International Space Station. NASA said it will take weeks to determine the full magnitude of the crash, which occurred nearly 500 miles over Siberia on Tuesday. "

" "Right now, they're definitely counting dozens," Matney said. "I would suspect that they'll be counting hundreds when the counting is done."

As for pieces the size of micrometers, the count will likely be in the thousands, he added. "

At the beginning of this year there were roughly 17,000 pieces of manmade debris orbiting Earth, Johnson said. The items, at least 4 inches in size, are being tracked by the U.S. Space Surveillance Network, which is operated by the military. The network detected the two debris clouds created Tuesday. "

I came across this at mrlim's. Wow. Satellite collision. The first i've heard of, ever.

Yes it's amazing. I mean, what are the odds of 2 masses crashing into each other in the vastness of outer space? Ok, amazing, but awfully dangerous. Yeah, collision in space isn't a joke. It's not as simple as 2 cars crashing into one another on a road, for example.

The physics of outer space has to be taken into consideration. What's space famous for? Yes, lack of the great Newtonian G, G for GRAVITY(i'm trying not to sound like a physics tutor here). In such a weightless environment, with little influence of gravity, such a collision is life-threatening to our astronauts living at the ISS(Int'l Space Stn) for example.

Notice they mentioned debris clouds, for all you know, shrapnel, ceramic shards and whatnot could be in there. If these are shot outwards following an explosion or crash, the particles would be travelling at breakneck bullet-speed. Now in space, there's no gravity, so they won't SLOW down. Velocity could be maintained for kilometres, even light-years, unless gravity kicks in.

So effectively, the collision becomes a space grenade, with deadly shrapnel bullets flying everywhere. Except that it doesn't have a death radius. Take this, imagine one day, an astronaut decides to take a breather(i don't know how) and space-walk outside the ISS. The collision occurs, and a single piece of debris, even as small as a piece of dice, comes whizzing past and drills through his spacesuit, exiting on the other side and continuing its journey. It is akin to getting shot by a gun. One of the many hazards of space. Wannabe astronauts, anyone?

It's gotten so bad that orbital debris is now the biggest threat to a space shuttle in flight, surpassing the dangers of liftoff and takeoff. "

Certain materials can even penetrate the hull of space shuttles and the ISS, provided they are given enough speed. I hope our friends in space are okay. Goodluck and Godspeed,........ and Goodbye.

Hummings Production

Ok some pictures of the workplace of 2 weeks, which ended just before CNY. The company's Humming House/ you can call it Hummings if you want to. The hours were a killer, we worked from 9am to 2am on average a day, thats a whopping 17 hours on the job. You do everything from sticking birds on hampers, packing/setting them, tying ribbons, moving stuff etc. I must say i miss the job, and the people there too. Made quite some friends with the full-time staff and the aunties and uncles which fought the fatigue war beside me. I actually miss getting only about 3 hours of sleep per day, i'd give extra sleep anytime, for the company of my fellow workers.

Thats the company building. Notice all the lorries.

One of the delivery lorries that me and yujun took to coughslackcough* with the driver, Richard.

The place had 4 lifts. 2 passenger ones and 2 cargo lifts. Very convenient. After lunch if we had spare time we'd always buy can drinks and slack around this area.

The company's office.

Miss the place and people lots. Yesterday(payday) was probably the last chance i'd get to see them again. SIGH. Alright, goodbye.

Sophia Magdalena Scholl

Sigh this blog is getting boring. I will still blog, nonetheless.

Ok last night's okto filmart was something fresh. Not the usual violence, sex and gore-rich movies nowadays.

The film : Sophie Scholl - Die letzten Tage( the final days ). She's 21 years old, and a member of the White Rose, an anti-Nazi non-violent student group that opposes the regime. The film portrays her in the final days of her life as she struggles to secretly spread the anti-Nazi movement to  all of Germany.

Definitely not for light entertainment, adrenaline junkies or people who dislike history will most probably find this boring. The show's events don't seem like they happened over half a century ago, they make you feel like you're right in the middle of it. I was surprised to feel anxiety creeping up on me when Sophie and her brother were secretly distributing anti-war pamphlets throughout the campus, for fear of them being caught.

Julia Jentsch's role as Sophie herself was brilliant. I loved her acting. I look at what she's done in the movie and can't help but wonder if i myself were put in that situation, would i be as brave as her, take the risks that she took. Fortunately Singapore is a peaceful country.

The film's set was pretty normal, nothing worth mentioning( except maybe the beheading part ). But the actors and actresses on the other hand, were exceptional. I shan't elaborate on the story here but it isn't one with a happy ending. If you wish to know more just go wiki Sophie Scholl and read up. The film's title gives you a huge clue already.

Yup so i'm recommending this show to anyone who still reads this wreck of a blog. An absolute must-watch, you won't regret it. It has gotten me hooked on history involving Germany so i think i'm going to borrow Der Untergang (Downfall) to watch, a show about Hitler's final 12 days.

Until the next post, goodbye.

A sea of green

Hello. I realise i procrastinate alot when it comes to blogging. I'm sorry haha.

My hair's getting quite long right now (some say its unruly), yeah so i'm reduced to wearing a cap whenever i head out. Figure i'd miss my hair when enlistment comes, so i'm leaving those strands on my head to grow as much as they can. While they still can.

Returned from a trip to white sands. As usual every sunday weekend, i'll go to pasir ris to meet the army guys one last time before they book in. met tujin first, followed by weizhou, and then ted, all one by one. Didn't meet with ych this time though, heard his dad's sending him to cdo camp straight, so yeah take care man! grow your biceps over this 2 weeks and show me!

The upcoming week is a dreadful routine. Sleep late, wake up late. Be a statue in front of the PC for the entire day. How unhealthy. I hereby declare that i shall exercise, YES EXERCISE. run swim fly, whatever. And yes, vday's coming. No one to spend with, sigh. HAHA.

I've gone back to listening to music again so i got myself a pair of earphones from challenger and a 2.5mm plug with a 3.5mm jack to fit my mediocre mp3 player of a phone. Hope the battery still lasts.

Ok i'm off to catch Sophie Scholl on okto 10pm. A show about a German heroine who opposed the Third Reich during Nazi Germany. Bye

Nothing to do

Hello blog i'm back. With nothing to do. Except maybe blog.

Okay here is a list of possible things that i can do right now:

1. Race all day on nfs most wanted and beat Blacklist #8 and get my Ford Mustang =O=O=O! (trust me it gets reeaally boring, except maybe the cars)

2. Play through Max Payne 2 and savour every kill in awe-inspiring bullet-time. (as if i haven't seen enough)

3. Turn on the telly. Ok i just did. Almost every channel is airing re-runs. Nothing good.

4. Eat. Very unhealthy at this time of day/night.

5. Sleep. Waste of time.

Boredom is really a killer. I've looked through all my feeds and even so, nothing interesting is coming out of famous local bloggers. Sigh. I'm planning to take a walk around town to look for part-time jobs after my previous stint ended just before CNY. Being jobless really sucks. Now i'm getting hungry all of a sudden. Maybe it's a sign to go sleep, and i think i will.

Someone tell me what to do!
